 Forest Rights and Recognition:

Mr. Y.Giri Rao
Mr. Y. Giri Rao is a social and rural development practitioner, having more than two decades of experience of working with various tribal communities of Odisha particularly with the ultra poor, underprivileged and vulnerable, with which he has been associated since 1995. Mr. Rao has a Bachelors degree in Commerce specializing in Economics and a Master’s degree majoring in Rural Development. He started his career with Gram Vikas and later on joined Vasundhara in 1995. He coordinated various projects as a program officer. He was initially involved in research on institutional issues, and was actively associated with various peoples’ forum and groups advocating on forestry issues in Orissa. He served as member in many committees constituted by the State and Central government.
Ms. Ranjita Pattnaik
Ranjita joined Vasundhara in May, 2008. As she is a science graduate and holds Master degree on Computer Application, her past experience includes as a faculty in various academic institutes like APTECH, Roland institute of Information and Technology for 4 years and also worked as a software developer in BSNL for 2 years. Before joining Vasundhara she was also worked in other NGOs like LIPICA, Ekta Parishad and Living Farm. In Vasundhara she has been involved in data analysis, documentation and also field facilitation process of the implementation of Forest Rights Act.
Mr. Balakrishna Sahu
Mr.Balakrishna joined Vasundhara in November 2018 as a Regional Coordinator. He has more than 12 years of experience in the development sector with different grassroots level organizations and also international level Organisation like AUS, AVIYAN, and CARE India and in some govt. programmes in NYKs (Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Govt. of India) and WORLP. Mr. Balakrishna is primarily responsible for Facilitation and Handholding to Staff, Partners and Fellows working on Forest Rights Recognition. Networking and Collaboration with CSOs and People’s Organisations in Western and Northern Odisha. Project Monitoring and Reporting. HR and Administrative Responsibilities for Rights Recognition of Staff, Partners and Fellows. Administrative Responsibilities for Field Offices in the Region. Coordination with the state office regarding HR, Admin and Finance settlements. Training and Capacity building on Forest Rights Act. And overall coordination in Western and Northern Odisha Region. His academic qualification includes a Master Degree in Sociology.
Mr. Aurobindo Rout
Mr. Aurobindo Rout is a social worker with having around 15 years of rich experience in the field of tribal rights, forest & governance and land rights. He has worked for the rights of marginalized and poorest of the poor sections of the society, for the land rights of the single women and forest rights and governance with different organizations named ACM, Antodaya, Vasundhara, RCDC and Landesa. He completed MA in Philosophy from Viswa Bharati, Shantiniketan in 2001. He joined Vasundhara in August 2006 and continued work for four and half years till January 2011. Again, he rejoined at Vasundhara in March 2019 as a Programme Officer. Now he is involved in facilitating implementation of Forest Rights Act 2006 in Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group in Odisha and coordinating training programmes on Forest Rights Act in the organization. He is a good columnist. His articles have been published in different periodicals and daily newspapers. A book named ‘Vidya Hin Bimukti’ compiling all his previous articles has been published.
Mr. Ashok Parida
Ashok joined Vasundhara as a field assistant, and presently he assists with the agarbatti stick-making enterprise process in Ranpur, as well as with the federation building process. Ashok has a BA and is an energetic person.
Mr. Swapneswar Dehury
Mr. Swapneswar Dehury a Post Graduate in Geo-Informatics from Osmania University with National Eligibility Test (NET in Geography). He worked as Research Assistant for 2 years from 2012-2014 in Vasundhara Odisha. On July 2016, he joined as Research Associate. He Leads GIS Cell; Resource Mapping and Monitoring using spatial technology at Vasundhara Odisha. His research interests are Community Forest Resources Mapping and Monitoring, Land use /Land cover Modelling, Habitat Loss Monitoring and Modelling, Future Land Use Modelling using Geo-Spatial Technology. He also heads the Trainings and Workshops on Spatial- Informatics and Land Use Modelling at District, State & National Level.
Mr. Manoj Dehuri
Manoj Kumar Dehuri joined Vasundhara since February 2014. He is working on CFR Mapping process using GPS & GIS Technology. He is coordinating the CFR mapping in Mayurbhanj district in collaboration with district administration. Since September 2009 He was working in AutoCAD Map & GIS field in other corporate sector till January 2014. Now he is working in Vasundhara as a GIS coordinator.
Mr. Shyam Sunder Sahoo
Shyam is a young and energetic person assisting the GIS Team in Mayurbhanj. He is joined Vasundhara in June 2006 worked as Office Assistance from June 2006 to July 2014. Now he is working as Field Associate in Keonjhar District.
